DHL Fashion Scholarship Finalists

DHL is one of the world’s largest logistics and freight company and this year, has announced three Australian finalists for its DHL Fashion Scholarship program.

Johnny Schembri of By Johnny, Christopher Esber of his namesake label and Maggie Woods and Lisa Reynolds of Viktoria + Woods are the three finalists who are vying for the chance to win a complete package that is sure to boost their Australian work to the next level.

They’re battling it out by way of a judging panel of three for the chance to win $10k, a trip to New York Fashion Week and a meeting with an international buyer.

All are a shoe-in technically speaking when you look at the success of their labels within Australia alone.

“I find this to be a very exciting time,” said Schembri. “There are many risks associated with entering into the international market, but having the support of DHL through it will definitely help shape the future of the By Johnny label.”

Johnny is in it to promote and support the international growth of his label, as well as the glory of the win. The opportunity he is gunning for to promote growth to his local retailers as well as international has done wonders for Australian labels in the past and by all accounts, should continue.

Success has been seen since 2010 by We Are Handome, Bec & Bridge, Khalo and Michael Lo Sordo.

DHL are still to release their winners, so watch this space.
