Looking at fully comp or third-party insurance? Minimise your premiums with these tips

Man driving red car

Shopping around for car insurance isn’t exactly the most exciting thing in the world, however, it’s something every responsible driver must do. It’s easy to think that you’re stuck with the car insurance price you’ve been quoted – click the link for car insurance cover comparisons – but with some careful planning and some simple changes, you can dramatically reduce the cost of your insurance premiums. Here we’ll examine some simple ways you can minimise your insurance premiums, whether you’re looking for third party or comprehensive cover.  Compare, compare, compare!  If you already have a policy in place and you’re due for renewal, don’t just sit there and accept it. By allowing your car insurance policy to roll over every year, you’re simply missing out on the opportunity to save on your cover. As soon as you get your renewal price, speak with your insurance provider to negotiate a better deal. You should also compare your current cover and price online to see what other options are available. Remember, you are not obliged to stay with the same insurance provider year on year – it’s their role to provide you with the cover you need at a price that you can continue to afford.  Take a defensive driving course This one is recommended for new and inexperienced drivers who are likely to be facing high premiums. Which is why taking commendable steps to become a safer and more skilled driver with a defensive driving course is often rewarded by wary insurance companies. Taking an accredited… Read More

Huawei’s P40 Pro and MateBook pack punch but smartphone is limited by software

Matebook x Pro

Huawei fans will be happy to know the P40 series is now available in Australia, with the P40 Pro featuring a high-quality Ultra Vision Leica Quad Camera with Huawei XD Fusion Engine. The smartphone’s camera is capable of incredible zoom capabilities and has an overflow display as well as a high definition selfie camera. The camera also manages to take impressive images in low-light environments.  Battery life is a big selling point, as is its cutting edge design. With light use, you should be able to get two full days’ worth of activity.  The one thing that could be a deal-breaker is the lack of available software due to the absence of Google services such as Google Play Store, Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube. The RRP for the Huawei P40 is AU$1099 and the P40 Pro is AU$1599.  P40 Pro highlights in a nutshell: Ground-breaking camera innovations that radically expand mobile photography and video capture possibilities, including the advanced Ultra Vision Leica camera system. Cutting-edge design including the HUAWEI Quad-curve Overflow Display that delivers outstanding fluidity and responsiveness. Powered by Kirin 990 5G to deliver integrated 5G connectivity with the most comprehensive 5G band support, robust AI performance and power. While Huawei’s new high-end laptop – the MateBook X Pro – is competitively priced, the hardware has not changed much since its predecessor. Weight, dimensions and design are pretty much identical, with a 13.9 inch LCD panel. The obvious difference is the newer Intel i7-10510U CPU.  Pricing for the Huawei MateBook X Pro starts at… Read More

What’s the right way to drink Australian MILO, anyway?

Milo

When you think about the fact we drink cow juice, it’s enough to make you gag, so why wouldn’t you want to disguise the taste with something chocolatey, delicious and – as it turns out – completely and divisively contentious? Aussie MILO, of course. They took a poll recently and according to its results, turns out that in order to do so as an authentic Australian drinker; you do it cold. For two months, Australians fought it out, debating whether drinking MILO hot or cold is best, then taking it to a vote. The debate was settled today, with MILO cold emerging as the Aussie favourite with 65% of votes. The discussion took the nation by storm, as the equivalent of nearly one in four Australians got involved in 6 million interactions across social media, and ultimately, almost 90,000 people voting, for #MILOTeamCold – 58,199 votes – or #MILOTeamHot, with 31,388 votes. So, how do you make it like a natural? Heap a few tablespoons of the good stuff into the bottom of a tall glass. Fill it with cold milk. Add more spoonfulls of MILO on the top. Then, eat it by the spoonful from the top, mix the rest, eat what’s left and guzzle the milk. See more at the MILO website
