Bosozoku Japanese South Yarra Melbourne log

Bosozoku is a new Japanese joint in South Yarra you need to try

Bosozoku is Melbourne’s latest addition to the Japanese food scene. Smartly situated just off Chapel Street, this edgy new eatery seems almost too cool to join the rest. But with Melbourne’s already overpopulated coloured burger bun providers, can this new fine-dining burger joint make it’s stamp on the food scene? After making your way past the karaoke room and down to their open-kitchen style burger bar, you’ll soon come to realise the answer is ‘yes’.

Rewind – karaoke room? Yup. Rubbing shoulders with the dry ice hot tub, pool table and Nintendo 64 projector, of course. The guys at Bosozoku HQ have taken their unique Japanese biker style and absolutely ran with it. The decorative eye candy of both the interior and exterior of this restaurant is enough to give you a sore neck from staring too much.

Not to be mistaken with just a pretty face, thankfully it’s the food that brings a true sense of excitement to this restaurant. After speaking with head chef Tomoya it’s clear to see these guys are consciously setting themselves apart from the rest. He explained they’re trying not to overcrowd the traditional beef patty options and offer a more unique menu. I guess that explains the ‘Die by the Sword’ Swordfish Burger.

After eating too many burgers for it to be socially acceptable to write about, I say with confidence that it’s a real treat to the tastebuds eating here. With picks such as the Chicken Teriyaki Burger and Spicy Miso Pork Bento, you really are spoilt for choice with this vibrant menu.

Bosozoku offers the perfect balance of style and flavour with it’s exclusive layout and refined menu choices. Too cool for Chapel Street? The dry ice hot tub certainly seems to suggest so. My only question is who’s going to risk touching my burger whilst I choose my Mario Kart character?
