Why do you blog?

Currently, I am supporting my fashion addiction as Editor of website, Melbourne Girl. I pursue my vigour for fashion blogging at every minute of the day I can squeeze in, because I love everything fashion & style.

How did you start?

My passion for blogging developed from my love of twitter (let’s call it an addiction), which I started in 2009.

What do you like to focus on? Why?

My passions are street, surf and urban fashion with a Melburnian edge! I like to focus on all things fashion in Melbourne, but also discuss other fabulous style happenings around Australia and the globe.

Tell me three of your favourite experiences as a fashion blogger so far.

Fashion Week. Having the opportunity to sit front row (or even amongst the back row) and watch some of the most famous and upcoming talents strut their new collections each season is amazing!

Friends. Being part of the Melbourne media scene is great!  I find our city is far less competitive (compared to other Aussie states), my fellow Melbourne bloggers are lovely!

Growth. Personally, I have been able to take something I do for fun and make it into a developing career.

Who inspires your sense of style?

Born and raised in country NSW, Melbourne has without a doubt moulded my fashion style. Retaining key fashion values like freedom and independence, Melbourne has opened my eyes to a new light of ‘urban’ sophistication and spirit.

Fave Labels include > Sass and Bide, Nicola Finetti, Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors.

Style Muses include > Nicole Richie, Christine Centenera and Rachel Zoe.

Shout out some of your favourite places to shop.

Doncaster Westfield – all my fave shops in the one location including Myer, Sportsgirl, Glue Store, Nike, Cotton On, Mimco and Seed.

CBD – I love the options of walking around the streets and laneways, as well as being able to head into Melbourne Central!

What’s the best thing about Australian fashion?

Often Melbourne is referred to as the fashion capital of Australia. However, after traveling around Europe and America, I would push that title to ‘Fashion Capital of the World’! The creative talent and diversity of designers/retailers based right here in Melbourne (and around Australia) are second to none. We have every style we could ever imagine, and the freedom and flexibility to find it when and where we want – be it a secluded laneway, funky suburban shopping strip or fast-paced shopping centre.

What are you most looking forward to over the next year?

As a busy, new mum, my life balance is very important. I hope to grow Melbourne Girl and cement it’s position in the Australian fashion scene. I also aim to build ‘melbgirlandbaby’, a new venture which sees me focus on lifestyle for Mums and Bubs.
