Where to celebrate Australia Day 2017!
The time has come to celebrate the greatest country in the world again and there’s no holding back this year.
Let the beer flow, the lamb be cooked, the beaches be overrun and the flag fly high this Australia Day. Here’s where you need to go for all the above and more:
The Australian Heritage Hotel, The Rocks
The Australian Heritage Hotel is creating its very own Aussie backyard on Cumberland Street this Australia Day. Think fake turf, stubbie holders hanging from a Hills hoist and in true Aussie style, snags on the barbie. Triple J’s Hottest 100 blasts all day long, and beer flows at Sydney’s most iconic pub.
If you’re feeling like a change of scenery, venture 100m down the road and revel in Sydney’s summer sun on The Glenmore’s rooftop.
Manly Wharf Hotel, Manly
Count down Triple J’s Hottest 100 with harbour views this Australia Day at Manly Wharf Hotel. Share $16 jugs of 150 lashes beer and enjoy a BBQ on the jetty in the summer sun. In true Aussie style, cheese and vegemite pizzas are also on offer. Local DJ Devola hits the decks at 7pm with his creative and street-wise style to keep you partying well into the night.

The Glenmore Hotel, The Rocks
Celebrate on The Glenmore’s rooftop this Australia Day with sweeping views of Sydney harbour. Sip on jugs of Carlton Draught and Pimms while counting down Triple J’s Hottest 100 and watching the ships race in the harbour. Perched on Cumberland Street, The Glenmore is a short walk to The Australian Heritage Hotel where you can continue to enjoy a few beers at its Aussie backyard-themed party.
The Royal, Leichhardt
Leichhardt’s local favourite The Royal Hotel serves the “ultimate” Aussie burger to celebrate Australia Day this year. Pair this with a cold brew for $20 and listen to Triple J’s Hottest 100 in the main bar all day. The newly renovated balcony enjoys enviable views of Leichhardt’s Norton Street.

Seabreeze Beach Hotel, South West Rocks
Heading to the north coast for Australia Day? Round up family and friends and visit Seabreeze Beach Hotel overlooking South West Rocks. Celebrate with Aussie pub favourites and be prepared to bring out your competitive streak with crab racing and a prawn peeling competition. Keep the kids entertained with face painting and live music from 5pm.
Toormina Hotel, Toormina
Celebrate Australia Day at Toormina Hotel’s newly renovated beer garden. Listen to Triple J’s Hottest 100 and bring your competitive streak out with a thong throwing competition and meat pie eating contest. Frozen tipples are on offer and a BBQ is in full swing. There is a jumping castle and a lamington-eating contest for the kids. A day out for family and friends alike.
