3 Auchentoshan Whisky Cocktails To Try

If you’re a whisky virgin or conversely, a well-lived connoisseur, Auchentoshan is one to try. It’s recently arrived in Australia by Beam Suntory and CCA and in addition to hosting a massive cocktail competition called Distilled Differently, they’re all about the versatility of the blend. Auchentoshan cocktails to try

Get yourself a bottle of Auchentoshan whisky ($75) and whip-up these potable masterpieces like the A Different Thyme, Fignatius Scot and Toasted Oak. 

A Different Thyme

A Different Thyme

Glass: rocks

Garnish: Grapefruit twist and thyme sprig

Ingredients:

  • 30mL Auchentoshan American Oak
  • 30mL fresh grapefruit juice
  • 60mL Yenda Hell (Craft Lager)
  • 15mL sugar syrup

Method: build in a rocks glass, fill with ice and stir. Then garnish.

Fignatius Scot

Glass: highball

Garnish: half fig and charred cinnamon

Ingredients:

  • 45mL Auchentoshan American Oak
  • 10mL Bowmore 12yo
  • 15mL smoked paprika and fig syrup
  • 15mL lime juice
  • 30mL Yenda Golden Ale
  • Ginger beer

Method: build ingredients in a shaker, roll and strain. Top with ginger beer

Toasted Oak

Toasted Oak

Glass: old fashioned

Garnish: orange twist & vanilla straw

Ingredients:

  • 45mL Auchentoshan American Oak
  • 3Tbsp coconut flakes
  • 10mL fresh orange juice
  • 10mL ginger & honey syrup

Method: Flambee coconut flakes in Auchentoshan to achieve a flash infusion. While on fire, add beer, orange juice, ginger and honey syrup in a shaker. While on fire, pour coconut flambeed Auchentoshan into the shaker. Throw the cocktail between 2 shakers to acerate, chill and dilute the cocktail. Strain into a rocks glass over a large block of ice. Garnish.
